RGL’s Petroleum/Geomechanics Engineer Dr. Mahmoudi, PhD, is delivering the talk at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds on Feb. 12. The presentation is the focus of the SPE Lloydminster Section’s monthly Technical Luncheon.
This presentation will highlight the workflow and critical factors necessary to conduct effective Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) in wells with sand control issues. Throughout the talk, general guidelines to enhance investigation accuracy and controlling future failure recurrences will be introduced to help engineers learn the best practices in the design, evaluation, and operation of wells with sand control devices.
Dr. Mahmoudi has been involved in sand control design and evaluation testing in conventional and thermal production for over a decade. A graduate of the University of Alberta, Dr. Mahmoudi obtained a PhD degree in petroleum engineering. He has been involved in sand control design and evaluation testing in conventional and thermal production for over a decade. Dr. Mahmoudi’s academic and industrial background focuses on drilling and well completion. He has authored and co-authored over 40 technical conference publications on the subject of sand control design, evaluation, drill string failure, and risk assessment in drilling and well completions. Dr. Mahmoudi plays an instrumental role in providing RGL clients with upfront engineering through RGL’s proLAB™, ensuring the right sand control and flow control solutions are selected for their completions.
