RGL will again be leading the technical research presented at this year’s SPE Thermal Well Integrity and Design Symposium with six papers included in the Society of Petroleum Engineer (SPE)-hosted event’s program.
Taking place Nov. 19 to 21 in Banff, Alberta, the premiere industry event assembles thermal operators and industry experts engaged in the wide range of topics and specializations related to well design and integrity. This annual technical meeting is popular amongst the thermal well community because it allows attendees to share their recent experiences, solutions, and ongoing challenges associated with the design, drilling, operation, and decommissioning of thermal wells.

For the second year in a row, RGL’s Business Development Manager Colby Sutton was invited to act as a session chairperson. He’ll be chairing a session entitled Best Practices for Development and Application of FCDs in Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage Injection Wells on Thursday, November 21 with Blair Temple of Imperial Oil Resources. The session will focus on the evaluation, design, implementation, performance assessment, and re-design of Flow Control Devices (FCDs). Discussions will highlight modelling methodologies, optimizations for completions designs, erosion risks and mitigations, and product performance and benchmarking. The ‘Case Study’ focus will highlight direct field results and lessons that can improve profitability for both the operator and service provider.
