As interest in RGL’s products and research grows worldwide, the energy sector in Western Asia will get the chance to learn about sand and flow control when the team presents at the upcoming Kuwait Oil & Gas Show and Conference.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)-hosted event, which runs Oct. 13 through 16, focuses on science and engineering factors facing those working in Kuwait and the Divided Neutral Zone (shared with Saudi Arabia).

RGL will present the Knowledge Sharing Poster “Advancing The CFD Simulation of Flashing in Inflow Control Devices” (SPE-198171-MS) by T.H. Nigim, L. Li, University of Alberta; D. Zhu, RGL; C.F. Lange, University of Alberta. A second Knowledge Sharing Poster entitled “Development of The Sand Control Screen with Hybrid Surface Size Exclusion and Depth Filtration Performance” (SPE-198056-MS) by V. Fattahpour, M. Mahmoudi, M. Roostaei, B. Fermaniuk, RGL Reservoir Management Inc. will also be presented at the conference.

The conference agenda is coordinated by SPE in cooperation with a committee of senior National Oil Company (NOC) and International Oil Companies (IOC) representatives, major operators, and academia active in the region. Together, the conference and exhibition combine to form the single biggest gathering of the oil and gas industry ever seen in Kuwait. Kuwait is known as one of the most compelling industry environments in the Middle East. As an OPEC member, it houses the world’s sixth largest oil reserves and is the fourth largest exporter of total oil products.

Currently, production is estimated at approximately 2.77 million B/D. By 2020, Kuwait aims to reach a production capacity of 4 million B/D and maintain this level through 2030. Downstream, Kuwait plans to grow domestic refinery capacity to 1.4 million B/D and boost international cooperation.

KOGS 2019 will take place at the Kuwait International Fair in Mishref, Kuwait. To view research papers or any of RGL’s sand control initiatives, email solutions@rglinc.com.
