Calgary, AB –
RGL’s Director of Finance Brad Gamroth has been named treasurer of the Canadian Heavy Oil Association’s 2020 Board of Directors.

The Canadian Heavy Oil Association (CHOA) is a not-for-profit association, driven by volunteer members, to provide a community of energy professionals focused on heavy oil and oil sands projects and developments. The organization shares information and technical knowledge about the heavy oil and oil sands industry in an informal networking environment.

Gamroth is joined on the board by Carrie Fanai: Program Lead for Bitumen Value Chain Optimization, Enterprise Technology, Suncor Energy Inc.; Malek Eid: Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Development, Mikisew Group of Companies; Almas Kassam: Director, Strategic Engagement, Cenovus Energy; and Jen Turner: Director of BC Relations, Project Reconciliation.

Prior to joining RGL, Gamroth spent time operating oil batteries in Swan Hills and Hamburg, Alberta (conventional light oil), eventually becoming lead operator for Arcan Resources. He also spent 5 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers Edmonton in their audit and assurance division and worked on a large SEC registrant based in San Francisco, CA. Gamroth came to RGL in March 2014 as accounting manager and eventually Director of Finance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Distinction from the University of Alberta and is a Chartered Accountant.

Since its inception over 30 years ago, CHOA has grown to over 1,400 members. It acts as a hub for the Canadian heavy oil and oil sands and likely is the largest association in the world dedicated solely to the heavy oil industry. In 2010, the CHOA adopted a new set of bylaws that restructured the governance of the Association to create a Board of Directors focused on strategic governing of the Association, and hired an Executive Director to manage the day-to-day affairs of the Association.
