SPE’s Formation Damage Conference to Feature New RGL Research Papers

The selection committee of the SPE International Conference and Exhibition on Formation Damage Control has determined five research papers published by RGL last year are worthy of presentation at the prestigious Lafayette, Louisiana-based conference. The topics of proppant transport, slurry flow, full-scale physical modeling, and sand control using high-power shock waves will be explored at the conference next month.
 
In the conference’s fracturing session, led by Session Chairpersons D V Satya Gupta of Baker Hughes, a GE company and Michael Thomas Hecker of ExxonMobil Development Co., SPE-199310-MS will be presented. Entitled “A Concise Review Of Experimental Works On Proppant Transport And Slurry Flow” by RGL Sand Control Lab Supervisor Morteza Roostaei; A. Nouri, University of Alberta; S. Hosseini, M. Soroush, RGL Reservoir Management Inc; A. Velayati, University of Alberta; RGL Sand Control Engineering Manager Mahdi Mahmoudi; A. Ghalambor, Oil Center Research Intl.; and RGL Research & Development Manager Vahid Fattahpour.
 
The session will discuss novel frac fluids and technologies related to characterizing and visualization of stimulation fluids and proppant transport in unconventional and high temperature, high pressure formations.  
 
In the Sand Control session, led by Mehmet Parlar of Schlumberger and Bruce Anthony Comeaux of Chevron ETC, case histories, completion evaluation, and new techniques will focus on advances in sand control technology. Featured papers from RGL:
